All of the schools did an amazing job! New Palestine Elementary raised over $1,200, Brandywine $600, and Sugar Creek around $200. In total we raised a little over $2,000 for Imagination Library!
Each of the winners received their traveling trophy and their pizza party. The results were way more than we expected. I am so happy with how much money we raised.

Sugar Creek was a little bit confused about this fundraiser, so we told them it is coin wars and the classroom that raises the most amount of money wins. I don't think we communicated enough with them to effectively carry out this fundraiser. A lot of classrooms didn't raise a single penny because they did not know about the project, while others did a really good job.
While I was at Brandywine, a teacher recommended we go to First Merchant's Bank to count our coins because they wave the fee. They gave us cashier's checks that we can donate to the Imagination Library Foundation. Every morning, we brought in two jugs of coins. We have done it by school, so we can get an accurate count of how much each school raised. Grace and I had trouble carrying one "bucket" (it was a drawer from a refrigerator) and had to set it down before we dropped it. It didn't go as smoothly as planned and we cut ourselves on the plastic. Someone from the Hancock Community Foundation came and picked up the rest of the money to count. We decided to pitch the kickball tailgate because we had conflicts with our sports' schedules. Good thing Penny Wars has been such a huge success!! Penny Wars turned out to be a huge success! Sugar Creek decided to start tomorrow (instead of this past week), but it worked out perfectly because the other two schools raised an overwhelming amount of money.
We spent hours each day counting pennies, either during our class time and/or after school. It was very stressful trying to balance our busy schedules, school work, and this project, but we found a way. It consisted of a lot of long nights and most of our weekend. When one of us couldn't be there because of school sports or work, the others picked up their load. We need to find a place to exchange the coins for cash or a check that will also wave the fee. For now, the coins are locked up in a room at the high school. In preparation for this week, our group has accomplished a lot: We got free jugs from Frey Water for NPE, made and handed out flyers to each of the elementary schools, ordered three trophies and got discounted pizzas from Mama Nita's for our Penny Wars champions. We also confirmed the expenses would be paid through the school board. I am extremely excited to get this fundraiser started! The Hancock Community Foundation's Imagination Library provides children under the age of five free books every month. Families sign up to get their kids a jumpstart on their education before they start school. Grace, Caroline and I decided to implement a Penny Wars fundraiser at the elementary schools in New Palestine. We also plan to host a Kickball Tournament at the high school. All of the money will go towards Imagination Library. We want to get all of New Palestine students involved in a community project that will benefit our schools. We presented our project proposal today and it went really well. We got a lot of positive feedback with our fundraising ideas. Mr. Cooper gave us permission to use the softball fields for our kickball tournament which helps us out a lot. We still have a few things to work out like where we will buy the trophies and pizza, but we have time to get that sorted out.
